一位馬來西亞的網民Koh Hak Han在WRO2012官方FB留言，希望可以改變一些事，突顯了這個問題，這本是馬來西亞國內賽的事情，但因為馬來西亞是今年的主辦國，所以值得關注後續發展。
簡單的說馬來西亞的國內選拔賽，規定競賽一定要使用9797、9695、9648、9794、9649 的零件，而且必須是完全相同的顏色與形狀，網民Koh Hak Han是使用NXT零售版(非教育版)，若這樣就不符合參賽資格，影響比賽的公平競爭，因為在馬來西亞唯一有販售9797的只有Sasbadi Sdn. Bhd.這家公司(同時也是比賽辦理單位之一)。
而且網民Koh Hak Han也提到在Sasbadi Sdn. Bhd.的FB留言遭刪除，電話也沒有結果，留言原文如下。

that means if we use the retail version of nxt we will be disqualified from the competition! and the only company who sell education version of nxt is the organizer, Sasbadi Sdn. Bhd.
why must we use the educational version of nxt? what is the difference between education version and retail version that will effect the fairness of the competition???
i had asked the question on their facebook group but they delete my post and ban me from the group and i cant reach them through phone. i hope that if this post can change something. thank you.

隨後WRO2012官方FB留言也有了回應:The events and format for the Final Competition may differ from the above. Information will be given to the finalists at a later date.或許過幾天會有更進一步答覆。
經查證WRO國際賽官網的一般規則( E. General Rules – Regular Category)如下原文，在E.3.1有類似的規定，沒有"完全相同的顏色與形狀"，如此接下來官方FB的回覆將是此項規則(3.1)執法的重要參考，敬請期待...
3.1 Materials used to assemble robots, including the controller, must be from LEGO® MINDSTORMS ™ sets!
This means that all LEGO MINDSTORMS article/product numbers are accepted.
Teams are allowed to use elements from several LEGO MINDSTORMS sets.
WRO recommends use of Education versions of LEGO MINDSTORMS due to extended service available from LEGO Education distributors.
規則的訂定都有其目的，目的是讓WRO成為很棒的比賽，大多數參賽者都會同意，剩下的就保留理性的討論空間吧。
